Thomas’ journey of public service began at 17 when he enlisted in the Army National Guard, where he served honorably.

Beyond his military service, Thomas has excelled in leadership positions across various industries. Elected in November 2024 at the age of 26, Thomas made history as the youngest city commissioner in Paducah. His leadership is inspired by his great-grandfather, James H. Thomas, who broke racial barriers as the first Black city councilman in Clinton, Kentucky. Following in his footsteps, Thomas is breaking age barriers, demonstrating that leadership knows no bounds and that young voices have the power to create meaningful change. Through innovative ideas and dedicated efforts, he works to ensure Paducah remains a vibrant and thriving community for all its residents.
