Skatepark History

Talk of the Skatepark began in 2002 with the City of Paducah Parks Master Plan.  By December 2003, there was a public petition supporting a concrete skatepark, and in February 2004 a skatepark committee was formed. With financial support from the City Commission to start the skatepark design, the committee accepted a challenge made by the Commission and fundraised dollars toward the effort.

The City challenged the public to raise $100,000. The project was funded through a $75,000 Federal Land and Water Conservation Grant, a $20,000 donation from the Honorable Society of the Kentucky Colonels, a $50,000 anonymous donation, public fundraising of $30,000 dollars, and the City of Paducah.

The skatepark was constructed in 2006 with the grand opening ceremony on October 28, 2006.
