Interlocal Agreement for Barkley Regional Airport Terminal Project
The Board approved an ordinance for an interlocal cooperation agreement between the City, McCracken County, and Barkley Regional Airport Authority to support the Barkley Regional Airport Terminal Project. This new terminal project is expected to cost $42 million. The Airport is receiving federal and state funding along with fundraising efforts that will cover approximately 87% of the total cost. In this agreement, the City and County will evenly divide the local share of the project which is estimated to be $2.9 million each.
Contracts for Services for Funding Support
The Paducah Board of Commissioners approved contracts for services between the City and the following agencies:
- Carson Center – City is providing $45,000 to support the performing arts center.
- Sprocket, Inc. – City is providing $35,000 in support of Sprocket.
- Greater Paducah Economic Development – City is providing $250,000 in support of GPEC. A check presentation ceremony was held with GPED President/CEO Bruce Wilcox.

- Municipal order approved for a fleet maintenance service agreement between the City of Paducah Fleet Division and Paducah Water. The City will provide maintenance services for Paducah Water’s vehicles at hourly rates.
- Municipal order approved accepting an additional round of Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) funding in the amount of $185,093. These funds will be used to reimburse payroll expenses for police officers and firefighters.
- Resolution approved in support of McCracken County’s submission of a recertification application as a Work Ready Community. McCracken County initially earned the certification as a Work Ready Community in 2015.
- Ordinance introduced for an amendment to the zoning ordinance, Section 126-68. This amendment aligns the Conditional Use permitting process with state statutes. This amendment will allow conditional use petitions to go directly to the Board of Adjustment rather than referring them to the Planning Commission first. This amendment will save a developer three weeks or more on their projects. The Planning Commission supports this amendment.
