Paducah Sports Park Groundbreaking The groundbreaking celebration for the Paducah Sports Park was held July 22, 2024, at the former Bluegrass Downs site. The Paducah Sports Park is a collaborative project among the McCracken County Sports Tourism Commission, McCracken County, and the City of Paducah that will allow the Paducah-McCracken County area become a regional destination for athletic tournaments. The facility will be constructed at the former Bluegrass Downs site and Stuart Nelson Park and managed by Sports Facilities Companies (SFC).

2024 Flag Day Celebration  It was a beautiful Flag Day celebration on June 14, 2024, at Dolly McNutt Memorial Plaza. Flag Day marks the June 14, 1777, date that the Continental Congress approved the design of a national flag. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a presidential proclamation establishing June 14 as a national Flag Day. The event was organized by the Paducah Parks & Recreation Department in partnership with the Sons of the Revolution, Daughters of the Revolution, U.S. Coast Guard, McCracken County Public Library, and the City of Paducah Police and Fire departments.

2024 Memorial Day  Take a moment to watch this beautiful video from Memorial Day in Paducah featuring a ceremony organized by Vietnam Veterans of America #337. The monuments and memorials featured are at Dolly McNutt Memorial Plaza and the McCracken County Courthouse.

Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening Ceremony for Noble Park Dog Parks  The community celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Noble Park Dog Parks on May 14, 2024.

2024 Lower Town Arts & Music Festival   The Lower Town Arts & Music Festival is a celebration of all things art, community, and music. Set in the historic Lower Town Arts District, the festival offers art vendors, live music, family activities, and various mouth-watering food and beverage options. The 2024 dates were May 10 and 11. The festival supports Paducah’s oldest non-profit art organization, Yeiser Art Center.

2024 Farmers' Market Opening Day Enjoying the Paducah Homegrown Farmers’ Market is a perfect way to spend a Saturday morning. This video is from the market's opening day on April 20, 2024. The market is open Saturdays through mid-October.

Robert Cherry Civic Center Ribbon Cutting On February 26, 2024, the community gathered to celebrate the grand reopening of the Robert Cherry Civic Center located at 2701 Park Avenue. The facility offers a lobby, restrooms, a catering kitchen, and large open meeting space that can seat up to 256 people depending upon the table configuration. The Civic Center closed to the public in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since that time, the City completed a feasibility study, met with stakeholders to gather input on community civic center needs, and worked to redesign the building to provide a community gathering area and space for members of the Parks & Recreation Department.

Pickleball Courts Ribbon Cutting  The City held a ribbon cutting celebration on September 1, 2023, for the eight-court pickleball facility constructed across from the Noble Park tennis courts.

River Revelations - 100 Block of Broadway  In this River Revelations video produced by Paducah 2 through the administration and facilities of West Kentucky Community & Technical College, learn about the history of the 100 block of Broadway including the businesses that at one time graced the block, the plans for the block that never came to fruition, how it became a parking lot with potential, and the current City Block redevelopment project. Near the end of the video are images from the annual service by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 337. 

2023 Lower Town Arts & Music Festival  Two days full of arts, music, food, and fun! The 2023 Lower Town Arts & Music Festival was held May 12-13. Yeiser Art Center organized an incredible event showcasing Paducah as we celebrate our 10th anniversary as a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

Outdoor Sports Complex Interlocal Cooperation Agreement Signing  The historic signing of the outdoor sports complex’s interlocal cooperation agreement was held September 7, 2022.  This is a partnership, a community agreement, among the McCracken County Fiscal Court, Paducah Board of Commissioners, and McCracken County Sports Tourism Commission.

2022 Paducah Chiefs Baseball Club   Summer in Paducah means that Brooks Stadium is busy with Paducah Chiefs Baseball Club action. Games are aired live on 99.5 FM. General admission is $5 at the gate or $10 for chair seats.

BUILD Grant Announcement/News Conference  This is a news conference to announce that Paducah will be receiving $10.4 million in grant funding for the downtown riverfront through the Department of Transportation's BUILD Grant.  The news conference was held November 6, 2019, at City Hall.  18 minutes

New Day Initiative - Launch of Customer Experience Department  On June 28, 2019, the City of Paducah invited the community to celebrate the launch of the Customer Experience Department and the New Day Initiative. This places the citizen, the customer, at the forefront with initiatives to assist businesses, citizens, and developers as they conduct business with the City. The celebration included miniature golf, music, food, and inspiring words from Mayor Brandi Harless, Commissioner Brenda McElroy, City Manager Jim Arndt, and City Clerk/Customer Experience Department Director Lindsay Parish.

City Hall Unveiling Ceremony  On May 2, 2019, the City held an unveiling ceremony for the City Hall Project, a more than $4 million project to rehabilitate this historic structure. The 2019 Dogwood Trail Awards also were presented by the Paducah Civic Beautification Board.  65 minutes

Stormwater Public Meeting  This is a 90 minute presentation along with a question and answer session regarding the proposed Stormwater Utility.  This public meeting was held at City Hall on November 14, 2018.

Wall that Heals  The Wall that Heals, a 3/4 scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, visited Paducah, October 25-28, 2018, at Carson Park.  3 minutes

Ohio River Flooding News Conference  This is a news conference held February 25, 2018, regarding floodgate installation, flood preparations for the Paducah-McCracken County Convention Center complex, and the partial collapse of the building located at 133 South 3rd Street.  17 minutes 

Health Park Phase I Ribbon Cutting  On August 1, 2017, the community gathered for the ribbon cutting for the first phase of the park located at 421 North 13th Street. Also, at the ribbon cutting was the announcement that the park would be renamed from the Health Park to the Pat & Jim Brockenborough Rotary Health Park.  Pat Brockenborough donated $500,000 to kick off the second phase of the park's construction to include a splash park and restroom facilities.  The completed Phase I includes the Paducah Rotary Playground and its safety surface, a 1/3 mile walking path, an outdoor fitness area, the enhancement of the Community Garden, and drainage and grading improvements to the center lawn area.  17 minutes

2017 Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony  The annual Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony was held Monday, May 15 on the lawn of the McCracken County Courthouse. The service is sponsored by the Jackson Purchase Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #15. The ceremony honors the men and women who have devoted themselves to preserving our freedoms with their lives. In 2016, 144 Peace Officers gave their lives in the line of duty.  29 minutes

2017 QuiltWeek  This video welcoming quilters to Paducah highlights the excitement, art, and creativity found during the 2017 QuiltWeek (April 26-29).  It  captures the event that brings thousands of people from all over the world to Paducah.  

Health Park Groundbreaking  A groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of the Health Park was held December 7, 2016.  This phase of the Health Park project will take approximately six months to complete.  It includes safety surfacing for the Paducah Rotary Playground which was constructed by Rotary members and volunteers this past summer.  In addition to the grading, drainage, irrigation of the great lawn in the center of the park, this phase also includes the 1/3 mile walking trail, lighting, an expansion of the Community Garden, and a fitness area.  12 minutes

Olivet Church Road Improvement Project Ribbon Cutting  A ribbon cutting ceremony was held November 3, 2016 to celebrate the completion of the Olivet Church Road Improvement Project.  Speakers are Paducah Mayor Gayle Kaler, McCracken County Judge-Executive Bob Leeper, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 1 Chief District Engineer Mike McGregor, and City Engineer-Public Works Director Rick Murphy.  13 minutes

Riverfront Project Construction - September 2016  This is aerial footage of the Riverfront Redevelopment Project taken in mid-September 2016.  It shows the base of the large park, the revetment (stone steps), and the pilings for the gangway and transient dock which will arrive in November 2016.

Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Commemoration Ceremony  A Welcome Home Commemoration Ceremony was held March 29, 2016 at Dolly McNutt Memorial Plaza.  The Paducah Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution organized the event.  Speakers include Cheryl Bendick, Judge Executive Bob Leeper, Mayor Gayle Kaler, and Vietnam Veteran Michael Swinford.  City Commissioner Richard Abraham sang the Star Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful.  The Welcome Home event was part of the 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the Vietnam War.  Yellow ribbons were placed around the trees at the McCracken County Courthouse with the 50th Anniversary Commemoration Flag and other items on display inside the Courthouse.  Bendick explained that Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert A. McDonald asked the nearly 9,000 commemorative partner members around the world to hold an event on March 29, the day the last boots were on the ground in Vietnam.  The Commemoration is a three year program designed to reach out to every Vietnam era veteran and/or their families to say thank you.  The Commemoration began in 2015 and will end December 31, 2017.  32 minutes

Governor Beshear Check Presentation for Riverfront  On November 23, 2015, Governor Steve Beshear ceremonially presented $1.525 million in state funding to support Paducah’s Riverfront Redevelopment Project, which aims to transform the community’s Ohio River shoreline.  The state funding will give a boost to a phase of the project that includes completion of a land mass in the river and construction of a gangway and floating service dock at which passing boaters can take on fuel, water and other supplies and have sewage safely disposed.  17 minutes

Holiday Inn Paducah Riverfront Groundbreaking Ceremony, October 19, 2015 The groundbreaking for the Holiday Inn Paducah Riverfront was held October 19, 2015. This five-story, 123-room hotel will be built adjacent to the Julian Carroll Convention Center. The hotel developer is LinGate Hospitality. 12 minutes

Riverfront Hotel News Conference, June 23, 2015  On June 23, 2015, Mayor Gayle Kaler held a news conference to introduce the development team, LinGate Hospitality, that is planning to bring a 123-room Holiday Inn to downtown Paducah adjacent to the Julian Carroll Convention Center.  18 minutes

Ohio River Boat Launch Ribbon Cutting  The ribbon cutting ceremony for the Ohio River Boat Launch located at North 6th and Burnett Streets was held October 22, 2014. Mayor Gayle Kaler, Commissioner Sandra Wilson, Commissioner Allan Rhodes, Commissioner Carol Gault, City Manager Jeff Pederson, Parks Services Director Mark Thompson, and City Engineer-Public Works Director Rick Murphy spoke at the event. The Paducah Tilghman JROTC Color Guard led off the ceremony. The Boat Launch provides 85 parking stalls, a large boat ramp, and a courtesy dock.  10 minutes

Greenway Trail 2014 Ribbon Cutting   The ribbon cutting ceremony for the third section of the Greenway Trail was held October 22, 2014. The ceremony was held at the east side of the underpass at North 8th Street/U.S. 45. Mayor Gayle Kaler, Commissioner Sandra Wilson, Commissioner Allan Rhodes, Commissioner Carol Gault, City Manager Jeff Pederson, Parks Services Director Mark Thompson, and City Engineer-Public Works Director Rick Murphy spoke at the event. BikeWorld provided bicycles for folks to ride. PATS provided a trolley to the event.  9 minutes

Fountain Avenue Neighborhood Alliance Video  The City of Paducah was honored December 11, 2013 for winning the NeighborWorks' Innovative Ideas Video Contest through NeighborWorks America.  This video featuring the City of Paducah's Fountain Avenue Neighborhood Program was recognized for being a great example of neighborhood collaboration.  3 minutes

Convention Center Hotel Development Agreement News Conference  Mayor Gayle Kaler held a news conference on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 4:45 p.m. in the Commission Chambers on the second floor of City Hall to provide details of a hotel development agreement between the City and hotel developers.   Attendees included City officials, hotel developers, and Independence Bank representatives.  The hotel, planned for the site next to the Julian Carroll Convention Center, will be a 121-room, branded, upscale hotel with a restaurant.  The hotel will be constructed on the same site where the dome pavilion has stood and will be attached to the Julian Carroll Convention Center with a pedestrian bridge over the floodwall.  Developers plan to begin construction on the six-story hotel in 2014.  20 minutes

Public Power Week 2013  Each year the American Public Power Association (APPA) sets aside a week to honor community-owned utilities such as Paducah Power System.  For 2013, Public Power Week is October 6-12.  This video produced by APPA explains the benefits of community-owned utilities.  At the September 24, 2013 City Commission meeting, Paducah Mayor Gayle Kaler presented a proclamation to Paducah Power System to honor its contributions to the community.

Paducah Riverfront Development Project Infill Ceremony  Ceremony held November 2, 2012 commemorating the upcoming construction on the riverfront in Paducah, Kentucky.  This is a project that will start with the expansion of a land mass adjacent to Schultz Park into the Ohio River.  The project also includes a 400 foot dock, a new boat launch area at 6th and Burnett, and a marina services building.  A marina also is in the plan as a public-private partnership.  Speakers include Parks Services Director Mark Thompson, Mayor Bill Paxton, Joe Framptom with the Paducah Riverfront Development Authority, and City Engineer-Public Works Director Rick Murphy.  22 minutes

Scholar House Ribbon Cutting  The ribbon cutting ceremony for the Scholar House was held October 9, 2012.  Scholar House is located next to WKCTC.  It's a community of students with children with childcare located on site.  44 minutes

Riverfront Project Public Hearing, May 30, 2012  As part of the approval process for the Environmental Assessment document, the City of Paducah held a public hearing on May 30, 2012 for the Waterfront Development Project. John Farmer, an engineer with Florence & Hutchison, made the presentation along with City Engineer-Public Works Director Rick Murphy.  51 minutes
