Paducah provides a safe and anonymous alternative to surrendering an infant. The Safe Haven Baby Box is located at Paducah Fire Station No. 5 at 1714 Broadway. This location offers a secure and compassionate option for parents in crisis. These boxes aim to prevent unsafe abandonment and ensure that infants are placed in proper care, following legal protocols.
The Safe Haven Baby Box is accessible from the outside of the fire station (see picture). The process involves opening the box's secure door, placing the baby inside, and then closing the door. Once the door is shut, a silent alarm alerts authorities to retrieve the baby.
In addition to baby boxes, Safe Haven Baby Boxes provides a confidential national hotline, 1-866-99BABY1.
